About

 Tannu Kaushik

I am a Research Scholar at the Centre for Climate Studies, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, working under the supervision of Prof. Arnab Dutta and Prof. Vikram Vishal. I was awarded the prestigious Prime Minister's Research Fellowship (PMRF) in July 2022.

My research focuses on developing bio-inspired molecular complexes and plasmonic gold nanomaterial dyads for solar-driven small-molecule activation in an industry-ready photoelectrochemical reactor. I work on photocatalytic and photoelectrochemical processes, targeting critical applications such as COâ‚‚ reduction, green hydrogen production, nitrate reduction, and methane oxidation.

I specialize in plasmonic gold nanoparticles as light-harvesting materials, while also exploring inorganic photosensitizers and earth-abundant metal-based quantum dots. My research integrates:

  • Charge transfer dynamics using femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy

  • DFT studies for reaction mechanisms and pathways

  • Hybrid catalyst design combining molecular catalysts with nanomaterials

  • Flow-cell photoelectrolyzers and membrane electrode assemblies for scalable applications

By bridging nanochemistry, catalysis, and energy conversion, I aim to develop sustainable, high-efficiency systems for solar-driven chemical transformations, contributing to the future of clean energy and carbon-neutral technologies.
